SEO Readiness Checklist
A self-assessment of titles, descriptions, local details, mobile use, content and indexing, with an action summary.
Step 1
Define the goal
You’ll check the basics Google looks at and get a prioritized list of what to fix. These are your own answers (self-reported), not a live scan of your site.
Learn the background first: Lesson 11: Why isn’t my website showing up on Google?
Step 2
Gather information
Collect only what you need for this exercise. Tick each one as you have it ready.
The Site Desk never asks for passwords, card numbers or other secrets. Keep those in a password manager.
Step 3
Follow the instructions
- 1Check what Google has indexed
Search site:yourbusiness.com. The results are pages Google has stored. In Search Console, open Indexing → Pages for the full picture and the reasons pages aren’t indexed.
- 2Look at your titles and descriptions
Search your business name. The blue headline is your page title; the text under it is often your meta description. Each important page should have its own, naming the service and area.
- 3Check your local details
Your name, address and phone should match exactly on your website and Google Business Profile.
- 4Try it on a phone
Open each important page on your phone. Is text readable without zooming? Can you tap the phone number? Does it load quickly?
Step 4
Record your results
