How to submit website changes correctly
Clear requests get done faster, cost less and come back right the first time. Here’s exactly what to include.
What you’ll learn
- The six details every change needs
- Why exact wording saves money
- How Client Updates estimates and tracks your request
- How to plan a request before you send it
Why it matters
Most delays in website updates aren’t technical. They come from requests that are missing a detail: which page, where, or the exact new wording.
One request, everything in it
Use Client Updates to send all your changes in one request: which page, where on the page, what it says now and exactly what it should say. Attach photos right there.
You’ll see an estimate as you go, and you approve it before any work starts.
Be exact
We use your wording exactly as written, so copy and paste the final text, including spelling, punctuation and phone numbers.
“Change the hours” is hard to act on. “On the Contact page, change Saturday to 8 AM – 2 PM” is done in minutes.
The six details
Page · where on the page · what it says now · what it should say · photos or files · any date it’s needed by. If a request has all six, there are no questions to answer.
Then track it
You get an email at each step (received, reviewing, scheduled, in progress, ready for your review, done), and your client portal shows it live. Reply to any email or message us in the portal with questions.
Your toolbox
Use it today
Page: [Contact] · Where: [the hours box, right side] · Now says: [“Sat 9–1”] · Change to: [“Saturday 8 AM – 2 PM”] · Photos: [attached: storefront.jpg] · Needed by: [Friday, for the holiday weekend]

Put it to work: Website Update Request Planner
You’ll plan a complete update request (page, location, current content, replacement, files, priority and date) so it can be estimated and done without back-and-forth.
You’ll finish with: A complete, copyable request summary that carries into the Client Updates form.
Do this next
- 1
Plan every change in the Update Request Planner.

Gather final wording and full-size photos.
- 3
Open Client Updates; your plan carries over.
- 4

How you’ll know it’s done
Common mistakes
- Sending changes in several separate emails or texts
- Describing the change instead of giving the exact wording
- Forgetting to say which page and where on it

Rather not do it yourself?
Send the work to the TL Web Design team through Client Updates. We review what you need and send an estimate when one applies. Nothing changes on your website and nothing is charged until you approve it.
